Chael Sonnen Charged With Numerous Counts of Battery Following Alleged Incident In December

Former UFC and Bellator fighter Chael Sonnen has been charged with 10 counts of misdemeanor battery and one charge of felony battery by strangulation due to an alleged incident that took place in late 2021.

The charges relate to an incident that is alleged to have happened on December 18th at the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Sonnen, 44, was previously given five charges of misdemeanor battery for an alleged incident that took place on that same date. Those charges were dismissed by a Nevada court “without prejudice,” allowing prosecutors to refile at a later date if they wanted to.

Sonnen is expected to appear in court on April 27th.

News of the new charges that Sonnen faces were first reported by TMZ on Monday.

Sonnen retired in 2019 after a career in major promotions UFC and Bellator. He has remained a relevant name in the sport since then, establishing a profile as an analyst and media personality.
