Drew Dober To Face Rafael Alves At UFC 277

Lightweights Rafael Alves and Drew Dober have been matched for UFC’s July 30th event, per MMA Fight Universe.

The pairing is joining UFC 277, which doesn’t have a confirmed location at the moment.

Dober snapped a two-fight skid with an appearance earlier this year. Matched against short-notice opponent Terrance McKinney, Dober scored a first-round finish to score his first victory in over a year.

Losses earlier on Dober’s record came against high-level names at lightweight like Islam Makhachev and Brad Riddell.

On the other hand, experienced name Alves is coming off his first UFC victory. That win occurred in November 2021, when he submitted Marc Diakiese in the first round via guillotine choke.

Alves’ previous fight was an unsuccessful UFC debut against Damir Ismagulov.

The UFC 277 lineup is slowly growing. An interim flyweight title fight between Brandon Moreno and Kai Kara-France is currently the top fight set for the card.

Here’s how the show looks right now:

Bout 6: Brandon Moreno (19-6-2) vs. Kai Kara-France (24-9) (Vacant Interim UFC Flyweight Championship)

Bout 5: Derrick Lewis (26-9) vs. Sergei Pavlovich (15-1) (Heavyweight)

Bout 4: Magomed Ankalaev (17-1) vs. Anthony Smith (36-16) (Light Heavyweight)

Bout 3: Paulo Costa (13-2) vs. Luke Rockhold (16-5) (Middleweight)

Bout 2: Drakkar Klose (12-2-1) vs. Diego Ferreira (17-5) (Lightweight)

Bout 1: Drew Dober (24-11) vs. Rafael Alves (20-10) (Lightweight)
