A trio of matchups has been recently confirmed for UFC’s July 16th card. The fights are scheduled to take place at the UBS Arena in Belmont Park, New York, USA.
Featherweights Burgos, Jourdain Paired Up
Featherweights Shane Burgos and Charles Jourdain are expected to meet at the event, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport Netherlands.
Jourdain is currently on a two-fight winning streak in the weight class. He scored a quick submission win in his last showing, catching Lando Vannata with a first-round guillotine choke in April.
Burgos snapped a two-fight skid in his last appearance, going three rounds against Billy Quarantillo for a unanimous decision win.
Schnell To Face Sumudaerji At Flyweight
Down at flyweight, Matt Schnell and Sumudaerji will be paired up. News of the matchup was announced Wednesday by the promotion.
Sumudaerji has picked up three consecutive wins since 2019. His last fight came early this year when he beat Zarrukh Adashev on scorecards.
Schnell will be looking to snap a two-fight skid. He was on the losing end of a quick submission loss last month, getting finished early by high-ranked flyweight Brandon Royval.
Invicta FC Champ Ducote To Debut Against Penne
Invicta FC Strawweight Champion Emily Ducote is expected to make her UFC debut on the card against Jessica Penne.
Ducote will be replacing Brianna Fortino, who reportedly withdrew from a fight against Penne. News of the strawweight change was first reported by Nolan King of MMA Junkie.
Ducote has picked up a championship and a three-fight winning streak in regional promotion Invicta FC recently. She earned her 115-pound title last year, scoring a first-round knockout against UFC alum Danielle Taylor.
Ducote defended her belt last month, earning a doctor stoppage win against Alesha Zappitella.
Penne is coming off a successful return last year, securing two wins in the UFC cage.
