Demetrious Johnson will soon get a second chance to become a champion in ONE.
It was announced Friday that Johnson will face ONE 135-pound Champion Adriano Moraes in a rematch at the promotion’s upcoming August 27th card.
The fight will headline the promotion’s first event as part of a partnership with Amazon Prime Video. While taking place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore, the event will air during prime-time hours for U.S. viewers on August 26th.
Johnson, a former UFC Flyweight Champion, failed to capture a ONE belt in his first attempt. He suffered a finish loss against Moraes in 2021, getting stopped in the second round by a series of strikes.
The fight was the first time that Johnson had lost a fight in ONE, and was only the third time he had lost over the past decade of his career.
Johnson last appeared in a special rules bout earlier this year, facing Rodtang Jitmuangnon in a half-Muay Thai half-MMA fight. He won in that fight, submitting Rodtang in the second round with a rear naked choke.
In the upcoming rematch, Moraes will be attempting to defend his belt for the third time since earning it in 2019. He has fought once since defeating Johnson, scoring a submission win over Yuya Wakamatsu at “ONE X.”
