In a matchup between two of strawweight’s highest-ranked names, Amanda Lemos and Marina Rodriguez will face off at UFC’s October 22nd event. News of the bout was first reported by Raphael Marinho of Combate.
The fight is joining UFC 280, which is scheduled to take place at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.
Lemos is taking the booking after getting back on track with a win recently. She beat veteran Michelle Waterson-Gomez in July, submitting her in the second round with a guillotine choke.
Lemos had her momentum stopped earlier in the year, suffering a first-round submission loss to former champion Jessica Andrade. Before then, she had a run of five victories in the UFC.
Rodriguez currently has a solid four-fight winning streak going since 2020. She notably won in her first-ever UFC main event appearance last year, going five rounds against Mackenzie Dern for a unanimous decision win.
Rodriguez picked up a win earlier this year, going three rounds against Yan Xiaonan for a split decision win at UFC 272.
