ONE Championship is scheduled to make its return to the Philippines later this year with a title fight at 125-pounds.
ONE 164 will be headlined by a title fight between 125-pound champ Joshua Pacio and former UFC talent Jarred Brooks, as announced this weekend. The event is scheduled to take place at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines on December 3rd.
Pacio and Brooks were first scheduled to meet earlier this year as part of ONE 158 in June. However, due to a “scheduling issue” on Brooks’ end, the fight ended up not happening. The rebooking gives Brooks the chance to become champion just a little more than a year after he first stepped into the ONE cage.
Brooks is getting the title fight after a quick ascension up the promotion’s rankings. The former UFC flyweight only made his ONE debut in November 2021, and has scored a trio of wins since then.
Brooks’ last appearance was in April, when he handed Bokang Masunayne his first pro loss with a first-round rear naked choke submission.
Pacio has held ONE’s 125-pound MMA belt since 2019 and has defended it a total of three times. His last title fight was in September 2021, when he scored a first-round finish victory in a trilogy bout against Yosuke Saruta.
ONE 164 marks the promotion’s first appearance outside of Singapore in more than two years. Their last event in the Philippines dates back to January 2020, when Pacio headlined “Fire & Fury” against Alex Silva.
ONE is also planning on holding a “ONE on Prime Video” event the same weekend as ONE 164, per their official schedule. However, it isn’t known at the moment if that card is also set to take place in the Philippines.
