Amir Albazi’s climb up the flyweight ranks will get another test late this year.
The rising contender has been booked to face Alex Perez at UFC’s December 17th show, per a report from Mike Heck of MMA Fighting.
The bout is joining a card that doesn’t have a confirmed location currently.
Albazi has slowly put together a winning streak at flyweight since joining the UFC roster in 2020. He scored his fourth consecutive win in the division recently, submitting Francisco Figueiredo in the first round of a bout at UFC 278.
Albazi has a chance to move a few spots up the official UFC rankings with a win. He is currently seated 10th in the division, while Perez is listed sixth.
In the upcoming booking, Perez will be fighting for his first victory in over two years. He lost his return in July, suffering a submission defeat against Alexandre Pantoja. The fight was Perez’s first appearance since 2020, as numerous canceled bookings kept him on the sidelines for a couple of years.
Before the absence, Perez’s most recent appearance was a title fight against Deiveson Figueiredo, which he lost via submission.
UFC’s December 17th show doesn’t have a main event set for it currently. Here are the few booked bouts for the event thus far:
Bout 4: Julian Marquez (9-3) vs. Deron Winn (7-3) (Middleweight)
Bout 3: Tafon Nchukwi (6-3) vs. Jamal Pogues (9-3) (Heavyweight)
