Darren Till is expected to make his return late this year with a tough challenge ahead of him. The former UFC title challenger has verbally agreed to face rising middleweight Dricus Du Plessis on December 10th, per a report from Brett Okamoto of ESPN.
The fight is being lined up for UFC 282, which doesn’t have a set location at the moment.
The attempted booking could be Till’s first appearance in over a year. His last fight came in September 2021, when he suffered a third-round submission loss against Derek Brunson. The fight was Till’s fourth loss through his last five appearances.
Till also had a year between that fight and his prior defeat due to numerous bookings falling through. Injury issues have continued to follow Till as of late – he was scheduled to appear earlier this year against Jack Hermansson, but that fight ended up not happening.
Du Plessis has been successful since making his UFC debut in 2020. He picked up his third promotional victory in July, going the distance against veteran Brad Tavares for a unanimous decision outcome.
All of Du Plessis’ 16 previous wins as a pro came via finish, including two UFC fights.
UFC 282 doesn’t have a set main event yet. Here are the few fights that have been reported for the card thus far:
Bout 4: Santiago Ponzinibbio (28-6) vs. Robbie Lawler (29-16) (Welterweight)

Bout 2: Billy Quarantillo (16-4) vs. Alexander Hernandez (13-5) (Featherweight)
