Strawweights Marina Rodriguez and Amanda Lemos will serve as the new main event for UFC’s November 5th show. The previously booked matchup was named as the headlining act for the upcoming card, per an announcement made during the UFC 280 broadcast on Saturday.
The fight will headline a card that is scheduled to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Undefeated featherweights Bryce Mitchell and Movsar Evloev were originally scheduled to fight in the main event of the card. However, the high-level matchup wasn’t able to survive until early November, as Evloev recently withdrew from the matchup due to injury.
The strawweights will get a bigger spotlight than expected due to the change.
Rodriguez is fighting to keep her momentum going in this appearance. She has put together four consecutive wins since early 2021, with two of those victories coming in a five-round fight. Her last appearance was at UFC 272 in March when she beat Yan Xiaonan via split decision.
Lemos will be searching for her first UFC main event win. She appeared in a headlining bout in April but suffered a first-round submission defeat to Jessica Andrade in that fight.
Lemos has since bounced back, defeating Michelle Waterson-Gomez in July.
