A total of 12 fights have departed the promotion’s roster, per recent reports.
Askar Askarov, Misha Cirkunov, Louis Cosce, Krzysztof Jotko, Nick Maximov, Magomed Mustafaev, Charlie Ontiveros, Jesse Ronson, Cameron VanCamp, Darian Weeks, and Jason Witt are all off the UFC roster, as first reported by MMA Fighting.
Jotko is the most experienced name in the pack to exit the promotion. He first joined the UFC back in 2014 and has fought for them a total of 17 times. He had a two-fight winning streak broken in his last fight, suffering a first-round rear naked choke defeat to Brendan Allen last month.
Askarov was granted his release after requesting it, per an announcement made on social media. He was one of the top names at flyweight, climbing up the rankings after scoring three consecutive wins from 2020 to 2021. His last fight was a decision loss to Kai Kara-France earlier this year.
Cirkunov’s UFC campaign is coming to an end after 13 fights for them. While his UFC run started in 2016 with a strong three-fight winning streak, he is now departing after suffering four straight losses.
Mustafaev is also off the roster after a long run of cancelled bouts. The 34-year-old has reportedly had five different bouts cancelled since 2020 due to varying reasons. His UFC run was a short three wins and two losses, albeit with many of the fights against big names in the division.
Maximov, a noted protege of prolific fighters Nick and Nate Diaz, is leaving the promotion after attaining an even two wins and two losses since 2021.
Ronson’s second UFC run has come to an end without a win. He fought three times since 2020, suffering two losses and having his sole victory later overturned to a no contest. He had previously competed on the UFC roster from 2013 to 2014, losing three straight bouts in that run.
Cosce went winless through two fights. While the “Dana White’s Contender Series” alum lost his debut in 2020 to Sasha Palatnikov, he was given a “Fight of the Night” award for the performance. His second defeat came in September of this year to Trevin Giles.
Ontiveros, VanCamp and Weeks see their UFC runs end after not earning any wins. Ontiveros and Weeks suffered three straight losses for the promotion, and VanCamp sees his run end after a pair of first-round finish losses.
Witt’s departure follows the news of his retirement from MMA.
Along with the 11 fighters reported by MMA Fighting, welterweight Sergey Khandozhko announced his retirement from MMA recently. The 30-year-old vet had a short UFC run that saw him score two wins and one loss.
