Warlley Alves will get a homecoming of sorts early next year, competing in his home country against Nicolas Dalby.
The welterweights have been paired up for UFC 283 on January 21st from the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as announced earlier this week.
Most of Alves’ UFC career has taken place in Brazil. Through 13 appearances in the promotion, Alves has fought inside the country of Brazil a total of seven times.
However, his last appearance inside the country is now somewhat dated, in part because the promotion hasn’t visited Brazil since early 2020.
Alves will be competing for the first time in nearly one-and-a-half years when he appears at UFC 283. His last fight was in June 2021, when he suffered a second-round finish loss to Jeremiah Wells.
Alves’ most recent win was a quick showing, stopping Mounir Lazzez in the first round with punches in early 2021.
Dalby enters this booking with a UFC record of three wins and one loss. His last appearance came in July when he went the distance against Claudio Silva for a unanimous decision victory.
