Christian Lee became a two-division titleholder in ONE Championship this Friday, surviving past a rough first round and eventually stopping Kiamrian Abbasov to earn the promotion’s 185-pound title.
Lee’s victory headlined ONE on Prime Video 4, which took place from the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore.
Lee stopped Abbasov in the fourth round of their fight with ground and pound shots. He suddenly unloaded with elbows on the feet during the round against a covered-up Abbasov.
Lee took the fight to the ground, where he moved into a full mount position and went back to throwing elbows. He eventually landed enough for referee Herb Dean to step in and stop the fight from continuing.
Lee succeeded in most of the previous rounds of the fight, out-landing Abbasov in a slow-paced battle.
Lee had to overcome a tough opening round where he was rocked by punches and looked to nearly be finished by Abbasov.
Lee now joins Reinier de Ridder, Aung La N Sang and Martin Nguyen as the only fighters to become two-division champions in ONE Championship. De Ridder is the only other active two-division champion in the promotion.
Lee’s other belt, the 170-pound title in ONE, was regained in August when he avenged a loss against Ok Rae Yoon via second round finish.
Abbasov lost his status as champion before Friday’s card. He missed weight for his title bout on Thursday, causing the promotion to strip him of the belt.
Abbasov first earned the belt in October 2019 with a win over Zebaztian Kadestam. He defended the title before losing it this week.
Rodtang Wins In First Title Fight Since 2020
Rodtang Jitmuangnon defended his ONE Muay Thai 135-pound belt for the first time in over two years in Friday’s co-main event, going the distance against Joseph Lasiri for a comfortable unanimous decision victory.
Rodtang was one step ahead of Lasiri for most of the fight. He earned a lead on Lasiri early, and only increasingly dominated the fight as the bout carried on. Rodtang scored two knockdowns in the championship rounds, dropping Lasiri in the fourth and fifth frames respectively.
Rodtang’s previous title victory dated back to July 2020, when he beat Petchdam Gaiyanghadao. He has remained undefeated in ONE’s Muay Thai division since then, beating Danial Williams and Jacob Smith in non-title fights as well.
Lasiri was moving up a division in an attempt to become a two-division champion. He earned ONE’s 125-pound Muay Thai title in May, as a doctor stoppage took opponent Prajanchai P.K.Saenchaimuaythaigym out of their bout in the third round.
Loman Overcomes Former Champion Fernandes To Keep Streak Going
Stephen Loman kept his winning streak going this weekend, overcoming former 145-pound ONE champion Bibiano Fernandes via unanimous decision.
Loman was the more active fighter no matter where the bout went. He landed punches on the feet, in clinch positions, and while in control on the ground. Overall, he had a comfortable lead on scorecards after three rounds of competition.
After the fight, Loman called for a fight against the winner of the upcoming title fight between John Lineker and Fabricio de Andrade.
Loman, a former Brave CF Bantamweight Champion, has now earned a trio of victories in ONE. Previous wins saw him beat experienced names Yusup Saadulaev and Shoko Sato.
Fernandes lost a belt in his previous appearance, getting stopped in March by John Lineker. Despite this short streak of losses, the 42-year-old urged viewers afterward that he still has the hunger to compete.
Alexandre Retires After Return Fight
Cosmo Alexandre scored a stoppage in his return to ONE, catching Juan Cervantes in the second round of a Muay Thai bout with strikes.
Alexandre dropped Cervantes in the second round with an elbow while in a clinch position. This blow did not knock Cervantes out but kept him grounded long enough for the referee to do the entire 10-count.
Alexandre kept up with Cervantes in an earlier round of the fight, with the bout being somewhat close prior to the finish.
Alexandre was appearing for the first time in over three years. His previous appearance was under MMA rules, where he stopped UFC alum Sage Northcutt in just 29 seconds with punches.
The 40-year-old fighter announced his retirement from combat sports following the victory.
Cervantes was also appearing for the first time since 2019. His previous ONE bout was also a loss.
Kim Stops Belingon Early
Kim Jae Woong snapped a two-fight losing streak with a flashy win on Friday night, putting away Kevin Belingon early with punches.
Kim first dropped Belingon with a left hook just two minutes into their fight. He followed up on this with ground and pound shots, eventually landing enough consecutive blows for the referee to step in and end the fight.
Kim was coming off losses against now-champion Tang Kai and undefeated contender Shamil Gasanov. The latter of those fights took place just last month.
Belingon is now winless through five consecutive fights. Those appearances have come against many notable names in ONE, including John Lineker and Bibiano Fernandes.
The Rest of the Card
Jonathan Haggerty won in his move to 145-pounds, beating Vladimir Kuzmin via majority decision in a Muay Thai bout. Previous Haggerty fights were down at 135-pounds.
Ruslan Emilbek Uulu handed Isi Fitkefu his first pro loss through eight appearances, prevailing in a mostly stand-up battle for a split decision victory.
Danielle Kelly earned her first grappling win in ONE Championship, submitting Mariia Molchanova early with a rear naked choke. Kelly’s previous appearance in ONE resulted in a draw against Mei Yamaguchi.
Liam Nolan bounced back from a recent Muay Thai loss with a solid three-round performance against Eddie Abasolo, resulting in a unanimous decision result.
