Jon Jones Gets Unanimous Decision Victory Over Dominick Reyes, Retains Belt

Jon Jones retained his UFC Light Heavyweight Championship on Saturday, getting a unanimous decision win (48-47, 48-47 & 49-46) over Dominick Reyes. The win was the main event of UFC 247, which took place at the Honda Center in Houston, Texas, USA.

Reyes had a quick start in the fight, landing lots of strikes in the first three rounds. Jones walked down Reyes throughout the fight, but really got to land more in the final few rounds as he was better conditioned. Jones had many takedowns defended, however he landed more as the fight went on.

The ESPN pay-per-view broadcast commentary were in protest of the scorecards, particularly the one that was 49-46. The judge who put in that scorecard, Joe Soliz, had previously submitted unique scorecards in comparison to other judges.

The win for Jones breaks the record of most UFC Championship wins. He previously held the record with Georges St-Pierre at 13 wins.

In the co-main event, Valentina Shevchenko defended her UFC Flyweight Championship, stopping Katlyn Chookagian in the third round.
