Jan Blachowicz earned a first round knockout victory over fellow light heavyweight contender Corey Anderson on Saturday, headlining a card from the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, USA.
After a few inactive minutes of fighting, Blachowicz scored an overhand right that dropped Anderson. He landed another shot before referee Herb Dean could get in to stop the fight.
Current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones was present at the event, and was called out by Blachowicz afterwards.
“Give me the place and time,” Blachowicz said to Jones on the microphone afterwards.
Jones defended his belt last weekend, defeating Dominick Reyes via unanimous decision.
In the co-main event of UFC on ESPN+ 25, Michel Pereira was disqualified from his fight against Diego Sanchez after landing a grounded knee to the head.
UFC’s next event is on Feb. 22nd, with home-country fighter Dan Hooker facing Paul Felder at the Spark Arena in Auckland, New Zealand.
