ONE Championship will hold another event in their home-country of Singapore on Friday, featuring two championship matchups. Headlining the card, Stamp Fairtex puts her kickboxing 115-pound championship on the line against Janet Todd.
While this event is set to take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, there will be no crowd present for the event. This decision was made earlier this month due to the outbreak of COVID-19 A.K.A coronavirus. Singapore currently has 89 reported cases of the virus in the country.
Lead Card (5:00AM EST / 6:00PM SGT)
Bout 1: Radeem Rahman (3-2) vs. Jeff Chan (3-1) (145 lbs) (MMA Bout)
The “lead card” for this ONE show is a six-fight MMA card. Kicking it off is Singapore’s Radeem Rahman facing debuting ONE fighter Jeff Chan. Rahman has been with ONE his whole professional career, fighting on the first ONE event in what was his pro-debut back in 2011. Rahman took 2019 off, and looks to bounce back from a 2018 loss with this fight. Chan is better recognized under the screen-name of “MMAShredded,” a online account where he documents his mixed-martial-arts training experiences around the world. Just like Rahman, Chan hasn’t fought since 2018. His last fight was a win via decision over Marc Gillespie in Canada.
Bout 2: Murad Ramazanov (5-0) vs. Bae Myung Ho (17-6-1) (185 lbs) (MMA Bout)
The next fight is a double debut, as undefeated Russian Murad Ramazanov gets put up against Korean fighter Bae Myung Ho. Ramazanov fought in December, getting a guillotine choke win in the second round. Ho is coming off of a loss, however he was on a four-fight winning streak before. He trains at the gym Team MAD Busan, which was produced fighters like Seo Hee Ham and Dong Hyun Kim.
Bout 3: Ritu Phogat (1-0) vs. Wu Chiao Chen (2-1) (115 lbs) (MMA Bout)
After a successful debut in ONE back in November, Ritu Phogat returns on this card to fight Wu Chiao Chen. Phogat defeated Nam Hee Kim via TKO in the first round. She will welcome Chen to ONE with this fight. Chen has three pro fights in the Chinese Taipei MMA Association, recently losing via TKO.
Bout 4: Shannon Wiratchai (9-5) vs. Honorio Banario (14-10) (155 lbs) (MMA Bout)
Longtime ONE fighters Shannon Wiratchai and Honorio Banario will come into this preliminary fight looking to snap multiple-fight losing streaks. Banario has been with ONE since 2012, however he has lost his last three. His longest losing streak was five-fights in a row, which spanned from 2013 to 2015. While Wiratchai has also been with ONE since 2012, he finds himself in the longest losing streak of his career so far.
Bout 5: Troy Worthen (6-0) vs. Mark Fairtex Abelardo (19-6) (145 lbs) (MMA Bout)
Undefeated fighter Tory Worthen will get his third test in ONE in Mark Fairtex Abelardo. Worthen has stopped his first two ONE opponents with strikes in the second round. Abelardo has fought on flagship ONE events since the start of 2019, going 2-1. His most recent fight was a win, going to the scorecards against Ayideng Jumayi. Abelardo has ended the undefeated record of an opponent 10 times in his career, making it 11 if he wins this matchup.
Bout 6: Mei Yamaguchi (21-11-1) vs. Denice Zamboanga (6-0) (115 lbs) (MMA Bout)
Finishing off the lead card is experienced Japanese fighter Mei Yamaguchi facing Denice Zamboanga. Yamaguchi is currently on a four-fight winning streak, the longest she’s had in her career. Zamboanga made her ONE debut in December, defeating Jihin Radzuan via decision. Before then, she picked up wins in many regional promotions throughout Asia.
Main Card (7:30AM EST / 8:30PM SGT)
Bout 7: Tiffany Teo (8-1) vs. Ayaka Miura (10-2) (125 lbs) (MMA Bout)
The main card will start with Singapore’s Tiffany Teo facing Ayaka Miura. Miura has had an explosive run since joining ONE in 2019, defeating three-straight opponents with an americana. She’s on a six-fight winning streak, which includes her three last fights in regional Japanese promotion Pancrase. Teo didn’t fight in 2019, however her last fight, which was in late 2018 was a win, bouncing back from her first loss as a pro.
Bout 8: Yoshihiro Akiyama (14-7) vs. Sherif Mohamed (9-5) (185 lbs) (MMA Bout)
The next matchup sees two fighters looking to get their first win in ONE. Former UFC fighter Yoshiro “Sexyama” Akiyama faces Egypt’s Sherif Mohamed. Akiyama made his ONE debut in June, losing to Agilan Thani via decision. He came back from a near four-year absence, previously having a seven-fight stint in the UFC from 2009 to 2015. Mohamed has fought three times in ONE, losing all bouts.
Bout 9: Amir Khan (12-6) vs. Kimihiro Eto (16-5-2) (170 lbs) (MMA Bout)
The final MMA bout of the card is between Singapore’s Amir Khan and Japan’s Kimihiro Eto. Khan escaped a three-fight losing streak with his last battle, prevailing over Ev Ting via split decision. The long-time ONE fighter has been with the promotion for all but one of his professional MMA bouts. Eto fought three times in the ONE Warrior Series, going 2-1 in the developmental program. He lost his ONE debut in July to Dae Sung Park, getting finished with punches in the second round. He will aim to get his first win in ONE.
Bout 10: Sam-A Gaiyanghadao vs. Rocky Ogden (125 lbs) (ONE Strawweight Muay Thai Championship)
The first of two championship belts sees the ONE Strawweight Muay Thai Championship get put up for grabs as Sam-A Gaiyanghadao and Rocky Ogden compete. It’s worth noting that the ONE Muay Thai bouts happen in the promotion’s MMA gloves. Gaiyanghadao won the Muay Thai belt in December, getting a unanimous decision win over Junguang Wang. His opponent, Ogden, will be making his ONE debut with this fight.
Bout 11: Stamp Fairtex vs. Janet Todd (115 lbs) (ONE Atomweight Kickboxing Championship)
In the main event of the show, ONE’s Muay Thai queen Stamp Fairtex will put her atomweight belt on the line against Janet Todd. Kickboxing fights in ONE happen with actual kickboxing gloves. Fairtex’s last three fights have been MMA bouts, as she has been building upon her so-far short run in the sport. This will be the first defence of Stamp’s kickboxing belt, which she earned in 2018 by defeating Kai Ting Chuang. She has since also won the atomweight (115-pound) Muay Thai belt in ONE, defending it once already as well.
Todd has fought Fairtex before, losing via unanimous decision under ONE Muay Thai rules. That matchup came in early 2019, but since then she has won her last three bouts in ONE. Two of the three matchups were kickboxing rules, with the most recent one being a Muay Thai matchup. In that fight, Todd stopped Ekaterina Vandaryeva with a head kick in the second round of a Muay Thai fight.
After King of the Jungle happens, ONE’s next event will be in mid-March. From the Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, ONE will hold “Heart of Heroes” on March 20th.
