Sam-A Gaiyanghadao Becomes First ONE Strawweight Muay Thai Champion

After five rounds of fighting, Sam-A Gaiyanghadao became the inaugural ONE Strawweight Champion, defeating Rocky Ogden via unanimous decision.

The fight was the co-main event of ONE Championships “King of the Jungle” event, which took place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore.

Throughout the 15 minutes of fighting, Sam-A was keeping a faster tempo of strikes, also connecting more often.

The event took place in-front of no paid crowd due to the COVID-19 virus (also known as the “coronavirus”) spreading within the country. Gatherings of large groups of people have been cancelled worldwide due to the virus spreading, including all March events in sanctioned by the Japanese Boxing Commission.

Sam-A is also the ONE Strawweight Kickboxing Champion, having earned the belt in December against Wang Junguang.

The fight before on the card saw Singapore’s Amir Khan finish Kimihiro Eto in under a round with a rear naked choke.

Main eventing the show, Stamp Fairtex put her ONE Atomweight Kickboxing Championship on the line against Janett Todd.
