UFC Brasilia To Be Held Without Audience, Among Other Fight Week Changes

Saturday’s UFC event held at the Ginasio Nislon Nelson in Brasilia, Brazil will be held without a crowd, per Combate.

First reported by the trio of Jose Mauricio Oliveira, Raphael Marinho and Zeca Azevedo, apart from the fans being taken out, the event will go on as scheduled.

Also in the report details that the ceremonial weigh-ins set to take place on Friday have been cancelled as well.

These changes have yet to be confirmed by the UFC.

Early Thursday morning, news broke that the media day for UFC on ESPN+ 28 was cancelled.

“I’m good with fighting in an empty arena. Let’s not panic too crazy, let us fight, entertain the people stuck at home,” said Kevin Lee via Twitter, who faces Charles Oliveira in the main event of the card.

These chances come after the sports world saw a huge flurry of event changes. The biggest of all being the 2019-20 NBA season being suspended after Utah Jazz player Rudy Gobert tested positive for the virus.

The prelims for UFC on ESPN+ 28 are still set to take place 5:00PM EST, with the main card beginning at 8:00PM EST.

UPDATE: Per Ariel Helwani of ESPN, fighters have yet to be told a status on Saturday’s fight night.
