ONE Championship’s future events will not be held in front of audiences due to threats of COVID-19, after an announcement from the promotion’s President Chatri Sityodtong.
“Bar none, the safety of our fans, athletes, staff, partners, and the public is the highest priority for ONE Championship,” said Sityodtong in a statement on Thursday morning (EST).
The plan is for the promotion to broadcast events on April 7th, 14th, May 1st and 8th from Singapore.
“ONE Infinity 1” has been moved from April to May 29th, now being held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines.
Lineups for all of the shows will be announced soon.
ONE Championship has been one of the more proactive promotions in combatting COVID-19, previously barring fans from an event and cancelling an event.
The promotion’s late February event “King of the Jungle” was held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore, however fans who bought tickets to the event were refunded.
“Heart of Heroes” was meant to be held on March 20th in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, however the event was postponed earlier this month. The event is now set to take place on June 26th.
