UFC Jacksonville: Alistair Overeem vs. Walt Harris Play-by-Play

Main eventing a Saturday night card, heavyweights Alistair Overeem and Walt Harris clashed. Here’s the highlights of the fight, which was scheduled for five rounds.

Bout 11: Alistair Overeem (45-18) vs. Walt Harris (13-7) (Heavyweight)

After a slow minute or so, a combination of hooks dropped Overeem. Harris, who was on his feet, continued with punches to Overeem, who was grounded. Overeem was able to recover, getting to his feet in a clinch eventually. A cut round the left eyebrow of Overeem opened. Harris slipped, allowing Overeem to get into side control on the ground. Overeem went into half guard, where he threw lots of short punches to the head. In the final seconds of the round, Overeem landed two knees to the body.

In the second minute of the second round, Overeem landed a head kick that hurt Harris. A right hand dropped Harris after. Overeem got on the back of Harris, throwing lots of punches. The punches continued until the referee eventually stepped in.

RESULT: Alistair Overeem def. Walt Harris via TKO, Strikes (RD 2, 3:00)
