An upcoming UFC event targeted for May 30th at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA has seen numerous announced matchups as of late. The biggest of all is the main event, which features Gilbert Burns versus former UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley.
“Bout agreement is signed,” said Burns on Twitter on Tuesday, confirming the booking. Burns is on a five-fight winning streak, fighting at welterweight for the three most recent matchups.
Woodley’s last matchup was in March of 2019, where he lost is UFC Welterweight Championship to Kamaru Usman.
Other Fights Announced For May 30th
Some of the smaller bouts on the card were announced on Thursday. First reported by Mike Bohn of MMAJunkie, it was announced that Katlyn Chookagian would try to bounce back from a championship shot against Valentina Shevchenko, fighting her sister Antonina Shevchenko. Shevchenko won her last fight, stopping Lucie Pudilova last August.
Reported by MMA DNA originally, a bantamweight bout between Louis Smolka and Casey Kenny was also announced for the card.
Brandon Royval is expected to make his UFC debut against Tim Elliott on the show as well, per a report from Mike Heck of MMA Fighting. Royval holds a 10-4 record in MMA, fighting numerous times in high-level MMA promotion LFA.
A matchup between two Dana White’s Contender Series prospects in Roosevelt Roberts and Brok Weaver is also scheduled for the show, per a report from David Van Auken. Roberts has went 3-1 since his debut, while Weaver’s singular win was due to his opponent being disqualified.
Marcel Dorff of MMA DNA announced another matchup on Thursday, being between Billy Quarantillo and Spike Carlyle. Both fighters won their UFC debut, extending their long-standing winning streaks.
