Esparza Matched With Undefeated Flyweight Rodriguez For July Bout

After signing a new multi-fight deal with the UFC, Carla Esparza looks towards her next opponent, Marina Rodriguez. First reported by Damon Martin and Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting, the veteran 115-pound fighter is set to fight on a mid-July card.

The fight will be Esparza’s second since UFC’s return from suspended events due to COVID-19. Her most recent fight was a split decision, defeating fellow ranked strawweight Michelle Waterson. The win extended her streak of wins to a trio.

Her opponent, Rodriguez, entered the UFC through TV series “Dana White’s Contender Series,” defeating Maria Oliveira to convince scouts on the program.

Since joining the UFC, Rodriguez has kept her previously undefeated record, however, in her four appearances, she has earned a rare two draws. In her next fight, she will look to make wins the outstanding category in her UFC run thus far.
