UFC 250: Chase Hooper vs. Alex Caceres Play-by-Play

Finishing off the preliminary card, undefeated Chase Hooper fought Alex Caceres. Here’s how the fight went from the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Bout 7: Chase Hooper (9-0-1) vs. Alex Caceres (15-12) (Featherweight)

Both fighters scored with jabs early on. A right hook from Caceres dropped Hooper in the first minutes. Hooper got to his feet and continued striking. After Caceres dominated the striking early on, Hooper clinched up, getting on the back of Hooper while on the feet still. Hooper mounted the back of Caceres, slipping off while still on the feet. They went back to striking with half of the minute to go. Caceres continued to out-strike Hooper. They clinched up in the final moments of the round, with Caceres getting a takedown on the back of Hooper. Hooper threatened a knee bar in the final few seconds of the round.

Early in the second round, Hooper got on the back of Caceres on the feet, although Caceres got him off. Many clinches happened in the round, with not much happening in them. Halfway through the round, Hooper missed a kick, falling on his chest after. Caceres continued to land clean punches on the feet. In the fourth minute, Hooper pulled guard, giving Caceres top position in full guard. Caceres eventually got out of the position, forcing the feet to going back on the feet. Hooper pulled guard again, although Caceres only stayed down to land a few punches. On his back, Hooper was able to trip Caceres using his legs giving him top position. Caceres slipped out, staying on the feet until the round ended.

Hooper clinched up with Caceres in the second minute of the round, however they stayed on the feet until they separated. A quick pause came after Caceres was hit with an accidental groin kick. Caceres clinched up halfway through the round. Hooper tried pulling guard, but Caeres didn’t entertain going down too. Hooper scored with a good left-cross with two minutes to go. He pulled guard again in the final minute, with Caceres actually going down this time too. They got to their feet as the round ended. Going to scorecards, all judges saw it in favour of Caceres (30-27, 30-27 & 30-27).

RESULT: Alex Caceres def. Chase Hooper via Decision, Unanimous
