UFC Fight Night: Jordan Espinosa vs. Mark De La Rosa Play-by-Play

Mark De La Rosa and Jordan Espinosa fought on the main card in a bantamweight battle. Here’s how it went.

Bout 6: Jordan Espinosa (14-7) vs. Mark De La Rosa (11-4) (Bantamweight)

De La Rosa missed a takedown attempt early. Espinosa was popping out a strong left hand jab early. He was also switching stance often, although most of the time he was orthodox. De La Rosa clinched up and put Espinosa against the cage. De La Rosa held one leg of Espinosa while getting hit with punches to the body. Espinosa landed elbows to the head too, as they stayed in the position for quite a while. De La Rosa took maybe two dozen shots from the position.

Espinosa continued with his jab to start the second round. De La Rosa held onto a leg in clinch for a minute or so, but he wasn’t nailed with elbows like in the round before. They separated with just over two minutes to go in the fight. Espinosa continued to dominate in the striking department.

Espinosa put De La Rosa against the fence early in the first round, landing some knees while in the position. After De La Rosa came forward with some punches, Espinosa scored a takedown. Espinosa got to the feet, going back down eventually in half guard. Espinosa landed some hard punches from the position. Espinosa tried for a darce choke before they stood up with half of the round to go. Espinosa got another takedown in the third minute of the round. They got back up, with De La Rosa still advancing. De La Rosa defended a takedown attempt in the final minute of the fight. They stayed on the feet as the round ended. Needing scorecards to find a winner, it was Espinosa who got the victory (30-27, 30-27 & 30-26).

RESULT: Jordan Espinosa def. Mark De La Rosa via Decision, Unanimous
