Former RIZIN Bantamweight Champion Manel Kape will step into the octagon for the first time on August 15th, facing Rogerio Bontorin at UFC 252. First reported by Marcelo Barone of Combate, the fight will be Bontorin’s fourth in the UFC.
Kape was a longtime fighter in Japanese MMA promotion RIZIN, making his first appearance on their programming in 2017. He earned a 6-3 record in the promotion, including three wins in a row that culminated last December with a championship victory. Most of his victories come via stoppage.
Bontorin impressed critics on UFC series “Dana White’s Contender Series” in 2018, earning him a contract in the promotion. He has since went 2-1, with his loss being in a February bout against Ray Borg.
