Two Fights Added To UFC’s July 18th Event

The third of four UFC shows on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi had it’s entire card revealed on Thursday. The announcement came via ESPN’s MMA Youtube Channel.

Brett Johns vs. Montel Jackson

After both picking up a win in early 2020, Brett Johns and Montel Jackson have been paired for this show.

Johns’ last fight was a win over Tony Gravely, submitting him via rear naked choke in the 13th minute. The fight ended a two-fight losing streak that came against two notable bantamweights in Aljamain Sterling and Pedro Munhoz.

Jackson comes into this fight with a three-fight winning streak in the UFC. Debuting in the UFC in 2018, Jackson had his first MMA road bump after losing to Ricky Simon. He has since gotten three wins, with a decision win coming over Felipe Colares in January.

Joel Alvarez vs. Joe Duffy

A lightweight clash between Joel Alvarez and Joe Duffy has also been attached to the preliminary card. Duffy made his return to the UFC in March of 2019, losing a decision to Marc Diakiese.

Alvarez comes back from a similar absence, having last fought in June of 2019, where he won over Danilo Belluardo. The Spanish fighter has a 1-1 UFC record.

The UFC “Fight Night” is currently set to be headlined by Deiveson Figueiredo and Joseph Benavidez, who will battle for the vacant UFC Flyweight Championship in a rematch. Here’s the entire card.
