In the co-main event of Saturday’s UFC event, Josh Emmett and Shane Burgos fought in a featherweight battle. Here’s how the action went.
Bout 11: Josh Emmett (15-2) vs. Shane Burgos (13-1) (Featherweight)
Emmett landed was throwing and connecting with some hard punches early. A right-cross landed halfway through the round clean for Emmett. Burgos scored with some jabs later in the round. Both fighters were showing their toughness by not showing that punches were hurting. Emmett shot for a takedown near the end of the round, being hit with some punches while Burgos defended. Emmett’s lead left leg was getting damaged in the second round as a kick to it dropped him at one point. The striking favoured Burgos much more in the second round, as Emmett was backing up and playing defence for a large portion of the round.
In the first minute of the final round a jab from Emmett dropped Burgos. They went to the ground after that, with Emmett in top position in full guard. They got up with just under four minutes left in the fight. A pause came in the second minute after Emmett was hit in the groin. Emmett landed a few right hands after the fight resumed.
