Welterweights Lyman Good and Belal Muhammad returned on Saturday to battle on UFC’s show. Here’s how their battle went.
Bout 9: Lyman Good (21-5) vs. Belal Muhammad (16-3) (Welterweight)
Good was advancing early on in stand-up, although Muhammad was switching stancing and strafing left and right, making himself hard to hit. Muhammad was landing his own punches on the backfoot.
Muhammad got a takedown for a moment in the first minute of the second round. The second round was much like the first where Muhammad was the fighter constantly moving backwards. Good landed a good combination of punches in the final minute of the round that landed clean. Small cuts on Muhammad’s face including on near his right eye opened during the round
Muhammad got hurt early in the final round, being wobbled by a right hand before being dropped by the two follow up punches. Muhammad clinched up while recovering. Good was bleeding too at this point. Good continued to score with hard punches. Muhammad got a takedown in the fourth minute, staying on the back of Good as he got back up. He got another takedown in the final minute, getting on the back of Good. He tried for a rear naked choke, although Good was able to stay out of it until the fight ran out of tie. All three judges gave the fight to Muhammad (29-28, 29-28 & 29-28).
RESULT: Belal Muhammad def. Lyman Good via Decision, Unanimous
