UFC Fight Night: Tecia Torres vs. Brianna Van Buren Play-by-Play

Coming back from her successful UFC debut in 2019, Brianna Van Buren fought Tecia Torres on the prelims of UFC’s show on Saturday.

Bout 6: Tecia Torres (10-5) vs. Brianna Van Buren (9-2) (Strawweight)

Torres was throwing leg kicks early. Van Buren caught a leg kick, putting Torres against the cage in a clinch after. Van Buren got a trip takedown in the second minute, although Torres got up almost immediately while still in the clinch. They went back to striking with just over two minutes to go in the fight. Van Buren clinched up again after Torres came forward with punches. Van Buren clinched again in the last minute after Torres connected with a few punches. Torres scored with punches as they exited clinch. Torres tried for a takedown in the final seconds, although Van Buren was able to get Torres down just before the horn.

Torres had a strong start in the second round, throwing a large range of strikes including an axe kick. Van Buren clinched up again in the second minute. After separating from the clinch Torres was throwing lots of kicks. Torres’ fast pace of punches and strikes continued through to the end of the round.

Torres continued with multi-punch and kick combinations of strikes in the final round. Van Buren tried for a single leg takedown with three minutes to go, not being able to get the fight down. Going to decision, the fight went to Torres (30-27, 30-27 & 30-27).

RESULT: Tecia Torres def. Brianna Van Buren via Decision, Unanimous
