Singapore-based MMA promotion ONE Championship announced their return for July 31st with an event titled “No Surrender” from Bangkok, Thailand. While this will be the promotion’s first large event in a while, the promotion held two smaller events last weekend in China.
The event was announced on Friday via Twitter by ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong.
Prior to COVID-19 dramatically changing the 2020 calendar for ONE, the promotion did five events in 2020. The last of the four, “King of the Jungle” happened in late February and was held without a crowd in Singapore.
The promotion announced earlier this month that it has cut a portion of their staff. While a press release said the number of workers was cut by about 20 percent, some claimed the number was around 50 to 60 percent.
No fighters have been announced for July 31st event yet. Per Tom Taylor, some announcements are set to roll out on Monday.
