UFC Fight Night: Brendan Allen vs. Kyle Daukaus Play-by-Play

On the main card of UFC’s show on Saturday, Brendan Allen fought Kyle Daukaus. Here’s how the fight happened.

Bout 7: Brendan Allen (14-3) vs. Kyle Daukaus (9-0) (Middleweight)

Daukaus landed hard strikes to start, scoring a body kick and two-punch combination. Daukaus put Allen against the cage in a body lock shortly after. In a clinch, Allen landed a knee to the head that dropped Daukaus. On the ground, Allen took full mount, landing punches from the top. Allen got on the back of Daukaus, landing some punches while threatening a rear naked choke. Daukaus eventually exploded and flipped around, making the fight go back to the feet. Daukaus got on the back of Allen while they were on their knees. They fully went to the ground, where Allen tried for a rear naked choke for a while. He took full guard on top in the final minutes. He landed an elbow from the position that caused a big cut on Daukaus. The round ended with Allen in half guard.

Both fighters landed some hard punches in the first minute of the second round. Daukaus got a takedown early, but Allen was quick to reverse the position after trying for a guillotine choke. Allen got top position in full guard. Allen tried for a guillotine halfway through the round, giving Daukaus the chance to reverse the position and take top position. Daukaus was able to move into half guard. Daukaus connected with punches to the body and head from the position. Allen was able to escape the position and take full guard again with a minute to go. Daukaus was squinting as the cuts on his head continued to bleed. They got up in the final seconds of the round, with Allen landing a punch that dropped Daukaus just as the horn went.

Daukaus exploded with some punches before getting a takedown to start the final round. Allen was hit with some strikes from full guard. Daukaus got side control after Allen moved around on the bottom a little. He moved onto the back of Allen where he tried for a choke. An eye of Allen was swelling in this round. Daukaus landed punches and elbows from the back. Allen left the position in the final minute, moving into top position and landing punches. Needing judges to find a winner, Allen was selected (29-28, 29-27 & 30-27).

RESULT: Brendan Allen def. Kyle Daukaus via Decision, Unanimous
