EA Sports is set to publish “UFC 4” on August 14th, with Jorge Masvidal and UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya revealed as the cover athletes. A trailer for the game was revealed on Youtube on Saturday, with pre-orders opening right after.
Per EA’s website, “UFC 4” is set to be released on XBOX One and PS4.
The trailer mainly focused on Adesanya and Masvidal, showing real life footage of the fighters along with gameplay footage of them. Gameplay of champions Weili Zhang and Justin Gaethje were also featured in the video.
The game will feature two “new environments,” titled “Backyard” and “Kumite.” “Backyard” is a street-fighting mode, with an octagon set-up in the backyard of someones house. Instead of a canvas, the ground of the fighting area is grass.
“Did I have fights in the street? Yeah, but that was many years ago,” says Masvidal in the video game trailer, referencing how he has fought in an unregulated setting before. The UFC welterweight recounted his appearance on a Kimbo Slice street fighting DVD on his Youtube channel earlier in the year.
The “Kumite” environment is an underground setting that includes a sculpture of a five-headed scorpion. Footage of the setting showed “The Last Stylebender,” Adesanya in the trailer.
Heavyweight Boxing Champions To Be Featured
A pre-order exclusive for the game will give fans the chance to play as heavyweight boxing champions Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. Models of the fighters shown in the trailer see them wearing trunks they have sported previously in championship bouts.
The two-minute trailer for the game features “Baba O’Riley,” by The Who as well as a new song by rapper Action Bronson written for the video.
