Jared Gordon and Chris Fishgold fought on the preliminary card of UFC’s Wednesday night show. The featherweight bout went like this.
Bout 3: Jared Gordon (15-4) vs. Chris Fishgold (18-3-1) (Featherweight)
Gordon was able to get a takedown a minute into the fight after Fishgold charged forward with strikes. Fishgold was able to take top position in half guard before they returned to the feet. Fishgold pulled guard, trying for a guillotine choke with two minutes to go in the round. Gordon eventually escaped the hold. He threw some strikes from top position in full guard.
Gordon got a takedown early in the second round. Fishgold threatened a guillotine, but Gordon was able to escape it while passing into side control. Gordon went into full guard after trying for a kimura for a moment. He threw small punches and hammerfist strikes throughout the round until it ended.
Gordon stopped a takedown early in the third round. He tried to get on the back of Fishgold while they were on their knees, but he slipped off as they got up. Fishgold walked down Gordon on the feet with punches. Gordon got on the back of Fishgold after stopping another takedown. He landed dozens of punches to the head from the position that went unanswered. He continued with strikes until the round ran out of time. Going to the judges, Gordon got a unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26 & 30-26).
RESULT: Jared Gordon def. Chris Fishgold via Decision, Unanimous
