Bellator 242 will remain as seven fights as Ras Hylton has stepped in for Steve Mowry, facing Rudy Shaffroth in a heavyweight battle. It was first reported by Between Rounds Radio that the matchup will replace the previous heavyweight matchup on the show’s preliminary card.
Mowry, an undefeated heavyweight announced on Tuesday that he tested positive for COVID-19, taking him off of the card set to happen on Friday. The undefeated heavyweight looked to extend his currently undefeated seven-fight professional record in the battle.
Stepping up to a short-notice occasion, Hylton will be making his Bellator debut. With nine fights as a pro, Hylton has earned five wins and four losses since his 2017 debut. His most recent fight was a loss in February, getting caught in a rear naked choke against Terrance Jean-Jacques.
Schaffroth’s goal remains the same on Friday, that being to bounce back from his August 2019 loss to Tyrell Fortune which ended his undefeated streak. The rising heavyweight will be making his fourth-straight appearance in Bellator.
Bellator’s returning show is set to happen on Friday evening from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, USA. Here’s their current card.
