Additional bouts have been added to RIZIN’s August 9th event RIZIN 22, including the return of former RIZIN Atomweight Champion Ayaka Hamasaki. The card, which is a part of a doubleheader of events at the Pia Arena MM in Yokohama, Japan, now has nine bouts in total.
Ayaka Hamasaki vs. Tomo Maesawa
As part of a press conference hosted on Youtube, Hamsaki’s returning bout was announced to be against DEEP Jewels veteran Tomo Maesawa.
The fight will see Hamasaki look to bounce back from her December loss to Seo Hee Ham, where she lost her RIZIN Atomweight Championship. The former Invicta FC Atomweight Champion had a five-fight winning streak prior to her late 2019 loss.
Maesawa’s last fight was a victory, defeating Emi Tomimatsu. Before then, she had losses to current RIZIN Atomweight Champion Ham and RIZIN regular Kanna Asakura.
Rui Ebata vs. Seiki Ueyama
Returning from his December loss to Tenshin Nasukawa, Rui Ebata will get his second RIZIN assignment, this time against Seiki Ueyama.
Ueyama, a Shoot Boxing veteran, saw success in his two RIZIN outings in 2019. With wins over Kengo and Taisei Umei, the 24-year-old kickboxer will look for his third win on the big stage in August. However, Ueyama will be trying to come back from a loss as well, as his most recent fight was a loss to Shogo Kuriaki in December due to a cut.
Ebata, a kickboxer with over 40 wins has yet to get a victory in RIZIN. His debuting performance in the promotion came in December, where he lost to Nasukawa, the promotion’s star in the sport.
The loss concluded a 11-fight winning streak that Ebata carried through smaller scale kickboxing promotions.
Tetsuya Seki vs. Kouya Kanda
With injury forcing Yojiro Uchimura off of RIZIN 22, a replacement in Kouya Kanda will step in to face Tetsuya Seki. Kanda has fought since 2018, with all of his bouts coming from regional Japanese promotion “DEEP Impact.” He currently has a three-fight winning streak including a fight from March.
Seki will also be making his RIZIN debut following a nine-fight string on the regional scene that resulted in eight wins and one draw. A large number of his fights came from Japanese promotion ZST.
RIZIN 22 now has nine bouts in total, two of which are kickboxing. Here’s the full card not arranged in any order.
