The UFC debut of Philip Rowe won’t come as soon as scheduled, as injury has taken the welterweight out of his August 22nd bout against Matthew Semelsberger. News of the change in fight status was first reported by Mike Heck of MMA Fighting.
Rowe’s removal from the card comes due to a broken toe which occurred in sparring.
Rowe is one of the fighters who appeared on last year’s season of “Dana White’s Contender Series,” with his performance on the show earning him a UFC contract.
Rowe was scheduled to face Semelsberger, a six-win welterweight who was going to be making his UFC debut as well. It is not known at the moment whether a replacement opponent will be found for Semelsberger.
Without the welterweight bout, UFC’s August 22nd show still has 12 fights in total. Still scheduled to headline is a five-round bout between Frankie Edgar and Pedro Munhoz. Here’s the card currently.
