With her September 5th bout against Karol Rosa cancelled, Sijara Eubanks will stay another week in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA to face Julia Avila on the UFC’s September 12th card. News of the new matchup was first reported by Mike Heck, Guilherme Cruz and Damon Martin of MMA Fighting.
News broke on Thursday night that Eunbanks lost her September 5th bout after her opponent, Rosa, was admitted to a hospital during her weight cut.
Avila was at one point meant to fight on the September 5th card as well, being scheduled to fight Nicco Montano. That plan changed in late August, as Montano tested positive for COVID-19, subsequently removing her from the card.
Now back in a lineup, Avila will aim to get her third UFC win. Her last fight was in June, stopping returning UFC fighter Gina Mazany in the first minute with strikes.
Eubanks last competed in May, snapping a two-fight losing streak with a decision victory over Sarah Moras.
The matchup between Avila and Eubanks joins a card which lost it’s main event recently, as headlining light heavyweight Glover Teixeira tested positive for COVID-19. The September 12th UFC card now has 12 fights in total and is scheduled to happen at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
