Finishing off Saturday’s UFC preliminary card, Julia Avila fought Sijara Eubanks. The bantamweight fight went like this.
Bout 6: Julia Avila (8-1) vs. Sijara Eubanks (5-4) (Bantamweight)
Avila charged forward with punches early on. Eubanks was returning with her own punches as well. Eubanks shot for a takedown, landing in side control when she landed it. She stayed in control for a minute until Avila stood up in a body lock. Avila got a takedown from the clinch, getting side control on the ground after the fighters scrambled for a moment. Avila got on the back of Eubanks for a moment. Eubanks slipped Avila off of her back, landing some hammerfist strikes before getting on Avila’s back to end the round.
Avila connected with a series of punches in the first minute of the second round. Eubanks stopped her momentum by scoring a takedown. Eubanks took full guard on top in the second minute of the round. She moved into side control a minute later, taking full mount shortly after. Eubanks tried for an arm triangle choke from full mount, stepping into side control while keeping the choke in. Eubanks leg the punch go, taking the back of Avila in the fourth minute. Moving back into full mount, Eubanks attempted the arm triangle choke again. Eubanks closed out the round with some punches to Avila.
Like the round before, the third round started with both fighters throwing wild punches. Eubanks shot for a takedown, although Avila was able to stop it and remain on the feet. She was able to get a takedown from a clinch in the second minute of the round, getting side control on the ground. Avila eventually moved into full guard, staying in control on the ground. Avila tried for an armbar and kneebar late in the round. Eubanks landed punches before the round ran out of time. Eubanks got the win after three rounds (29-27, 39-27 & 29-27).
RESULT: Sijara Eubanks def. Julia Avila via Decision, Unanimous
