Kicking off the main card of Saturday’s “Fight Night” card, Billy Quarantillo fought Kyle Nelson. Their fight went like this.
Bout 7: Billy Quarantillo (14-2) vs. Kyle Nelson (13-3) (Featherweight)
Both fighters were exchanging hard punches and kicks early. Nelson put together a strong combination of punches to the body and head before they clinched up. Nelson missed an elbow to the head after they separated. Quarantillo landed a big overhand punch in the second minute of the fight. Quarantillo landed a knee to the head as Nelson crouched down. They clinched up again after. Nelson tried for a takedown from a body lock, but Quarantillo was able to resist it. When they returned to stand-up, Quarantillo was charging forward and landing singular shots. Quarantillo got a takedown in the fourth minute of the fight. Nelson worked back to his feet with less than a minute to go in the fight. A pause came after Nelson was kneed in the groin.
The first minute of the second round saw both fighters swing wild strikes at each other. Nelson stopped two takedown attempts in the second minute of the round. Quarantillo got a double leg takedown in the third minute after throwing some punches. Nelson was quick to work back to a clinch on the feet. Nelson landed a clean elbow to the head from the position. A knee landed from Quarantillo in a clinch in the fourth minute. Nelson tried to motion to the referee that it hit the ground but a pause did not happen. Quarantillo scored with elbows in the clinch before they separated. While Nelson connected with some punches on his backfoot, Quarantillo walked down Nelson in the final minute with punches. Nelson went on his back after failing to get a takedown. Quarantillo landed punches from top position before the round ended.
Quarantillo started the second round with a two-punch combination that dropped Nelson, ending the fight.
