Tyson Nam has received a short-notice opponent, as Jerome Rivera has stepped in to fight him on UFC’s September 19th card. The matchup was first revealed during Saturday night’s UFC “Fight Night” broadcast.
Nam was scheduled to compete on last Saturday’s card, although the matchup was scrapped the day before after his opponent Matt Schnell faced weight cut issues.
Nam earned his first UFC win last June, stopping Zarrukh Adashev in under a minute with strikes. He had previously lost fights to Sergio Pettis and Kai Kara-France via decision.
Rivera last fought in August, defeating Luis Rodriguez on TV series “Dana White’s Contender Series.” The fight did not earn Rivera a contract on the show.
“To everyone who has supported this young kid with a crazy dream, thank you I hope I continue to make you proud. Let’s bring the ruckus next Saturday,” said Rivera via Instagram on Saturday.
