Titan FC 64: Sowma vs. Brents Preview

Titan FC will search for their new heavyweight champion on Friday, as the headlining bout for Titan FC 64 has Said Sowman and Bobby Brents fight for the promotion’s vacant belt. Here’s a preview of the show, which is set to happen from the InterContinental Hotel Miami in Miami, Florida, USA.

Main Card (8:00PM EDT) (UFC Fight Pass)

Bout 1: Evelyn Martins (0-0) vs. Serena DeJesus (1-1) (Bantamweight)

Friday’s five-fight card will start with a bantamweight bout, as Evelyn Martins will make her pro debut against Serena DeJesus. Martins trains out of MMA Masters, a gym that also has fighters like Ricardo Lamas and Bruno Santos.

DeJesus will make her first Titan FC appearance following a stint in Invicta FC. DeJesus participated in Invicta FC’s one-night tournament last March, making it to the second round before being eliminated by Taylor Guardado.

Bout 2: Danny Collazo (0-0) vs. Christopher Lavant (0-5) (Lightweight)

Danny Collazo takes the spotlight in the second fight, making his debut as a pro against Christopher Lavant. Collazo had an amateur career in MMA from 2017 to 2019, winning eight fights before being scheduled to go pro on Friday night. He is booked against Lavant, who has failed to win as a pro. While he has not won, Lavant has been active, with this fight being his fifth of 2020 (sixth when including a boxing bout).

Bout 3: Royberth Echeverria (0-0) vs. Philip Keller (2-5) (Flyweight)

Like the second bout on the card, Royberth Echeverria is matched against a fighter with a negative record for his pro debut. Echeverria finished his amateur career with six wins and three losses. His most recent bout was in February, defeating Dennys Bendega.

Keller has lost five of his seven fights as a pro. His last two have taken place in Titan FC, including a June fight to Christian Ynastrilla.

Bout 4: Michael Lilly (7-5) vs. Dilano Taylor (2-1) (Welterweight)

Taking his third fight in Titan FC, Michael Lily will fight Dilano Taylor in the co-main event of the card. Lilly’s last fight was in May, stopping Kendly St. Louis in the second round with strikes. The victory extended his ongoing streak of wins to four-in-a-row.

Taylor will look for his third win as a pro in the fight. His last bout was in December, stopping Hector Olazabal in the second minute on a Combat Night Pro card.

Bout 5: Said Sowma (5-1) vs. Bobby Brents (17-7) (Vacant Titan FC Heavyweight Championship)

Friday night’s main event is scheduled to have Said Sowma and Bobby Brents compete for Titan FC’s heavyweight belt. Sowma finds himself in a championship position following five-straight wins, two of which happened in Titan FC. His most recent fight was in August, stopping Dustin Clements on a Global Legion FC card.

Brents heads into the fight with much more experience, although the combination of recent losses and a slight absence from action puts in question how well he can do against Sowma. Brents’ last MMA fight was in 2018, losing to Daniel Omielanczuk on an ACB card. His previous fight was in 2016, losing a split decision to Chase Gormley in Bellator.

While he hasn’t fought since 2018, he has competed in bare knuckle boxing since, defeating Dan Wonch in September of 2019.

Knockdown News will provide live coverage of Titan FC 64 on Friday night.
