ONE Championship is planning four championship bouts for their October 30th event “Inside the Matrix.” The card was first announced by ONE President Chatri Sityodtong via Facebook on Monday.
The location of the card is currently not known.
Aung La N Sang To Face Undefeated Reinier De Ridder
ONE Championship’s Middleweight Champion (recognized as light heavyweight in other promotions), Aung La N Sang, will be put up against undefeated fighter Reinier De Ridder as part of the card.
Ridder has fought three times since joining ONE in 2019, winning in all three encounters. His last fight was in February, winning a decision over Leandro Ataides.
Sang has held the belt since 2017 and has since defended it three times, as well as moved up to take the promotion’s light heavyweight belt (225 pounds)
Christian Lee To Defend Belt For First Time Against Iuri Lapicus
ONE Lightweight Championship Christian Lee will see his first title defence on the card, putting his belt up against undefeated fighter Iuri Lapicus.
The bout was first scheduled for May, although it was cancelled due to the worldwide spread of COVID-19.
Lee claimed the belt in 2019, stopping Shinya Aoki in the second round to win. He last fought in October of 2019, defeating Saygid Guseyn Arslanaliev in the finals of a tournament.
Lapicus’ two ONE fights have ended via rear naked choke, defeating both Shannon Wiratchai and Marat Gafurov.
Martin Nguyen Booked Against Thanh Le
Martin Nguyen will return to the cage in October, as he is scheduled to fight Thanh Le, putting his ONE Featherweight Championship on the line. Nguyen last competed in August of 2019, defeating Koyomi Matsushima in the second round to successfully defend his 155-pound belt.
Le has been on a short yet strong run in ONE, defeating three opponents in under six minutes each. The former interim LFA Featherweight Champion has never gone the distance in his 13-fight MMA career.
Xiong Jing Nan Returns To 125-Pounds Against Tiffany Teo
ONE’s strawweight champion Xiong Jing Nan will come back to the weight class on the card when she fights Tiffany Teo.
Nan, a former two-division champion, lost her 115-pound belt last year, being caught with a rear naked choke in the final minute of a 25-minute bout against Angela Lee.
Nan handed Teo the first loss of her career, stopping her in early 2018 with punches to claim the vacant belt. Teo has since won twice, defeating Michelle Nicolini and Ayaka Miura.
