A series of losses have ended the UFC runs for Nadia Kassem and Dequan Townsend. News of the releases was first reported by Guilherme Cruz and Damon Martin of MMA Fighting.
Kassem competed three times in the UFC from 2017 to 2019. She fought twice in 2019, losing to Montana De La Rosa and Ji Yeon Kim. She was pulled from a bout last August against Miranda Granger due to injury.
Her sole UFC win comes from 2017, winning a decision over Alex Chambers.
Townsend’s UFC run concludes after a short yet active stint in the promotion. Townsend fought four times from June of 2019 to October of 2020, losing all four fights.
His last appearance was on October 3rd, being stopped in the second round by Dusko Todorovic.
Kassem and Townsend aren’t the only UFC fighters to be cut this week.
Earlier in the week, news broke that heavyweight Ben Sosoli had his UFC contract “cancelled” after being sentenced to 22 months in jail for recklessly causing serious injury.
