Joaquin Buckley was one of the four fighters given UFC “Performance of the Night” bonuses on Sunday following his viral knockout victory.
Along with Buckley, bonuses of $50,000 were given to Tom Breese, Chris Daukaus and Cory Sandhagen for their fights from “Fight Island” in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Buckley’s win saw him knock out Impa Kasanganay in the second round, landing a jumping spinning back kick while his other foot was being held. The walk-off victory went viral on Twitter, with the UFC’s copy of the play currently sitting at 12 million views.
“Fight Night” headliner Sandhagen got a bonus for his own spinning back kick which stopped Marlon Moraes in the second round. The victory saw Sanghagen bounce back from a loss to Aljamain Sterling from earlier in the year.
Breese’s bonus comes after his win which saw him spoil the UFC debut of KB Bhullar. Stopping the fight within a round, Breese floored Bhullar with a jab before ending the fight with ground and pound.
Daukaus got his bonus for his fight which lasted less than a minute against Rodrigo Nascimento. The win for Daukaus, his second in the UFC, saw him knock down Nascimento twice with punches.
