‘Contract Issues’ Takes Ante Delija Out of October 17th UFC Bout Against Ciryl Gane

Saturday’s UFC show has lost a bout, as the matchup between undefeated heavyweight Ciryl Gane and Ante Delija has been taken off the card. News of the fight’s changed status was first reported by LaSueur.

Now without the heavyweight fight, Saturday’s UFC card from “Fight Island” in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates has 11 fights in total.

Per a statement issued by the UFC on Wednesday, Delija was pulled from the fight “due to contract issues.”

Delija was set to be a replacement opponent against Gane, who was first scheduled to fight Shamil Abdurakhimov.

The cancelled bout continues a pattern of scrapped fights this year for Gane. Having last fought in December of 2019, Gane has lost out on four fights in 2020 due to various reasons.

Gane is undefeated through six fights as a pro, three of which have come within the UFC.

The headlining bout on Saturday’s card remains intact, as ranked featherweights Brian Ortega and The Korean Zombie will battle.
