UFC Bantamweight Champion Petr Yan To Face Aljamain Sterling At UFC 256

A second title fight has been added to the December 12th UFC 256 pay-per-view, as Petr Yan is scheduled to put his UFC Bantamweight Championship on the line against Aljamain Sterling. News of the matchup was first reported by Kevin Iole of Yahoo.

The fight will be Yan’s first with the title after claiming it last July. Yan won the vacant belt at UFC 251 in the summer, stopping Jose Aldo in the fifth round with strikes.

Sterling sees himself in a title position after a four-fight streak of wins. His last win came in June, catching Cory Sandhagen in the second minute of action with a rear naked choke.

While the fight was not previously reported, UFC President Dana White indicated that Sterling was next in line for a title shot.

The fight joins a now five-fight card which is expected to happen in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The main event is set to be between UFC Featherweight Champion Amanda Nunes and Megan Anderson.

Here’s the updated lineup.
