After a positive COVID-19 test pulled Cynthia Calvillo out of her UFC 254 fight against Lauren Murphy, Liliya Shakirova has stepped in as a replacement. News of the fight change was first reported by Brett Okamoto of ESPN.
The fight is scheduled to happen on October 24th from “Fight Island” in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Calvillo released a statement on her withdrawal from the bout on Thursday night.
“I was ready to put on a show for you guys but it is what is,” said Calvillo via Instagram.
Shakirova, an Uzbekistan fighter, has a record of eight wins and one loss since debuting in 2015. Her last fight was last October, defeating Aygul Kuzu Abduvakhid on a GFC card.
Murphy will attempt to earn her fourth-straight win at the pay-per-view event. Murphy last fought in June, defeating Roxanne Modafferi via decision.
