UFC on ESPN+ 38: Gillian Robertson vs. Poliana Botelho Play-by-Play

Poliana Botelho made her return to the cage on Saturday when she fought Gillian Robertson. The flyweight bout went like this.

Bout 5: Gillian Robertson (8-4) vs. Poliana Botelho (8-2) (Flyweight)

Robertson immediately shot for a single leg takedown that took Botelho down. Botelho got back to the feet within the first minute, putting Robertson in a clinch against the cage. Robertson looked for another single leg takedown in the third minute of the fight. Botelho was able to stay on the feet and resist the attempt. Robertson scored a takedown in the final minute of the round after Botelho landed a knee to the body. Robertson remained in half guard until the round ran out of time.

Botelho landed a few leg kicks to start the second round. Robertson caught a leg kick in the first minute of the second round to score a takedown. Robertson moved into side control with two minutes left in the round. Robertson passed into full mount in the fourth minute, landing elbows and punches to the head periodically until the round concluded.

Botelho stopped a takedown to start the third round. Robertson scored a double leg takedown a minute into the round. Robertson advanced into full mount where she continued with strikes. Robertson got on the back of Botelho before the round finished. Robertson got the win via decision after 15 minutes of action (29-28, 29-27 & 29-27).

RESULT: Gillian Robertson def. Poliana Botelho via Decision, Unanimous
