Welterweights Max Griffin and Ramiz Brahimaj competed on the prelims of Saturday’s UFC card. Here’s how it went.
Bout 2: Max Griffin (15-8) vs. Ramiz Brahimaj (8-2) (Welterweight)
Griffin was the more active striker in the first half of the opening round. Brahimaj threw a two-punch combination early, connecting with a right hand at the end of it. Griffin threw a high volume of jabs, connecting with some. Griffin failed to get a takedown from a clinch in the closing moments of the round.
A kick from Griffin accidentally hit Brahimaj in the groin, causing a pause early in the second round. The fight resumed after a minute or so. Griffin was coming in and landing good punches in the second round. Brahimaj started to bleed due to strikes in the later half of the round.
Another groin shot to Brahimaj caused another pause in the action in the third round. Like the rounds before, Griffin was dominating with strikes on the feet. Griffin landed strikes during the clinch in the third round. One of the punches opened a huge cut on the left ear of Brahimaj, causing the referee to call the fight.
