Strawweights Ashley Yoder and Miranda Granger fought on Saturday’s UFC main card. Here’s how their three-round fight went.
Bout 7: Ashley Yoder (7-6) vs. Miranda Granger (7-1) (Strawweight)
Yoder was quick to put Granger against the cage in a body lock in the first minute of action. Yoder threw Granger down for a takedown in the second minute after both of them connected with punches. Yoder landed in side control on top. Granger was able to move into top position, although Yoder was able to get a hold of one of her feet while on the bottom. In full guard on top, Granger landed a couple hammerfist punches to the head. Yoder looked for an armbar and triangle choke before the round ran out of time.
The fighters fought in a clinch against the cage early in the second round. Granger was able to get a takedown in the third minute of the round. Yoder was able to slowly move into half guard on top. Yoder held the position, throwing punches periodically until the round concluded.
Yoder landed a takedown from a body lock in the opening minute of the third round. Yoder was able to move into full mount on top. She took the back of Granger in the fourth minute. She threw punches from the position before putting in a deep rear naked choke in the closing seconds of the fight. She had to let the choke go as the round ran out of time. Yoder won via decision (30-26, 29-27 & 29-27).
RESULT: Ashley Yoder def. Miranda Granger via Decision, Unanimous
