UFC on ESPN 18: Josh Parisian vs. Parker Porter Play-by-Play

Heavyweights Josh Parisian and Parker Porter fought on Saturday’s UFC main card. Here’s how the matchup went.

Bout 8: Josh Parisian (13-3) vs. Parker Porter (10-6) (Heavyweight)

Porter backed Parisian up with punches early in the fight. They clinched against the cage for a moment. Parisian hurt Porter in the second minute, wobbling him after landing punches. A pause came in the third minute as Parisian’s mouthpiece fell out. The fighters took turns with combinations of strikes halfway through the round. Porter shot for a takedown in the fourth minute, getting Parisian to his knees before standing back up. 

Parisian seemingly got dropped by a leg kick early in the second round. Porter looked for a guillotine choke on the ground while Parisian was seated. The fight returned to the feet in the second minute, where Porter put Parisian against the cage in a clinch. Porter landed a takedown in the third minute of the round, taking side control shortly after going down. Porter looked for a keylock while in half guard. They returned to the feet before the round ran out of time.

The fight paused for a moment early in the third round due to a groin strike. Porter landed a series of hooks to the head in the second minute of the round. Parisian was kept against the cage for most of the round through clinches and striking that backed him up. Going to the scorecards, Porter picked up a win (30-26, 30-27 & 29-28).

RESULT: Parker Porter def. Josh Parisian via Decision, Unanimous
